Residential Set-Out Information

THE PERFECT SET OUT:
  • Wheel carts to street curbside by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day.
  • Residential collection is provided Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Exception: Canyonlands service begins at 5:00 a.m. Please have carts curbside before then.
  • Remove your carts following service. Carts may not be left out for more than 24 hours.
  • Do not overload carts; the lids must close.
  • Overage fees may apply to overflowing carts.

 

THE ACI RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE COLLECTION PROGRAM ALSO INCLUDES:
  • Used oil filter and up to 3 gallons of automotive fluids or cooking oil: FLUIDS CANNOT BE MIXED. Click here for more information about the curbside oil pick up program.
  • Household batteries: Place AAA, AA, B, C, D, 9V, and small “button” batteries in a sealed heavy-duty plastic bag on top of your blue recycling cart. Liquid batteries such as automobile batteries and lithium-ion batteries are not accepted.
  • Textiles: During two specified weeks in the year, on their regular collection day, residents can place bagged textiles (household linens, clothing, etc.) on the curb next to the blue recycling cart. Textiles will be sorted for reuse. Please do not set out textiles that are wet, moldy, or have human biowaste or blood on them. Click here for textile collection calendar.

  • All plastics #1-7 (except foam plastic)
  • Bundled plastic bags/wrap
  • Scrap metal (up to 2 ft. & 40 lbs.)
  • Glass containers
  • Aluminum foil products & metal containers
  • Clean paper, cardboard, & paper cartons

 

WHAT DOES NOT BELONG IN THE BLUE RECYCLING CART?

 

  • Ceramics & glassware
  • Windows, mirrors, & sheet glass
  • Foam plastic
  • Juice boxes & pouches
  • Food-soiled paper
  • Organic material
  • Hazardous Waste 

 

NEED EXTRA RECYCLING SERVICE?

 

  • Upsize to a 96-gallon cart. Contact us.
  • Add another recycling cart at no additional charge. Contact us.
  • Extra cardboard can be flattened, sized to 4’x4’ and stacked next to your recycling cart on collection day.

 

 

 
KEEP YOUR RECYCLING CLEAN!
  • Empty / Depackage Containers – Scrape spoiled/unwanted food into the green organics container.
  • Rinse Containers – Avoid contaminating the recycling stream.
  • Keep Recycling Loose – Don’t bag them! (except for bundled plastic wrap/bags).
  • Avoid Wishcycling – Items that are not recyclable cause contamination and can damage processing equipment.

Please note: Canyonlands residents do not receive organics service.

  • Food Scraps
  • Waxed paper cartons & paper egg cartons
  • Shredded paper in paper bags
  • Yard trimmings, uncoated wood & chips, cactus & palm
  • Food-soiled paper containers
  • Paper towels & napkins, paper plates & cups

 

WHAT DOES NOT BELONG IN THE GREEN ORGANICS CART?

 

 

 

COOKING OIL RECYCLING PROGRAM

(DO NOT MIX AUTOMOTIVE FLUIDS AND COOKING OIL IN THE SAME CONTAINER)

  • Used cooking oil can be placed curbside next to the organics cart in a screw-top plastic container that is no taller than 12 inches in height.
  • The original cooking oil container can be used if it meets these specifications.
  • Please label the container “Cooking Oil”.

 

NEED EXTRA ORGANICS SERVICE?

  • Upsize to a 96-gallon cart. Contact us.
  • Use an ACI 30-gallon Paper Garden Bag.
  • Pick up at ACI office – 610 Aladdin Avenue, San Leandro

  • Sets of 5 or 10 bags can be mailed to you for a fee. Current shipping charges apply.

  • Glassware & ceramics
  • Cat litter & non-vegetarian pet feces
